SIR SOTOBE'S BIOGRAPHY

Thamsanqa Sibiya who’s widely known by his professional name Sir Sotobe was born on the 30th of May in 1989 in the township of Kwa Zulu Natal called Nquthu in South Africa. He’s a house music producer, DJ and founder of Amashinga Music.    Sir Sotobe was born and raised in Nquthu, after Grade 9 at Dundee Junior Secondary he moved to Johannesburg he completed his high school studies at ABC Academy in Braamfontein. He took education very serious and wanted to further his studies for tertiary education, he enrolled at the University Of Johannesburg in 2007 to study Mechanical Engineering. Even though his first love was mechanical engineering he was always passionate about music from the tender age of 9. In 2008 he enrolled for a Deejaying course at DJ Ball Academy to study professional Deejaying to fine tune his skills behind the desks, during the course he met his close friend Phumlani Coka who’s well known by his professional name Freedom Elementz. After the Deejaying course at DJ Ball Academy Sir Sotobe became a professional DJ and played at different night clubs around Gauteng and his home province of Kwa Zulu Natal to test drive his deejaying skills and to get more experience as a DJ. In 2010 he enrolled for another music course at Soul Candi Institute Of Music to study music production and music business, he met his close friend DJ Cuebur and also met DJ Shimza they were all in the same class. During the course at Soul Candi Institute Of Music Sir Sotobe got a chance to meet and learn from the some of the best producers in the country like Crazy White Boy, RJ Benjamin, Clive Bean and Rob Rodell who were part of the SC institute as lectures at that time. After he completed his music production course and music business he went on with his music career and worked close with his muso friends Freedom Elementz and DJ Cuebur. Through DJ Cuebur he got a chance to meet and get tips from some of the great musicians in the country which are Revolution, Don Laka, and Mdu Masilela.  In 2011 Sir Sotobe decided to take a break from music and moved back to Kwa Zulu Natal after he got a full time job to take care of his family. A year later he moved back to Johannesburg in 2012 after he got another full time job. In 2014 he decide to resigned from his full time job to pursue his music career to pick up where he left off and opened his music label called Amashinga Music which mainly focused at Maskandi and Gospel Music. He worked on different music projects for Maskandi and Gospel artists that are signed under his label Amashinga Music as a producer and a sound engineer with Freedom Elements and DJ Cuebur. Late 2015 he decided to get back to house music, back to the roots where it all started to focus on his brand. Sir Sotobe is a versatile producer he describes his sound as Afro house music laced with captivating drums and he also produce deep and soulful house music. He has worked with artists and DJ’s like Andyboi, DJ Cuebur, Freedom Elementz, Xtetique Soul, PM Project and J‐After. He’s busy in studio working on his new EP which is going to be released in the summer season of 2016, his new single Summer Night featuring the talented singer Brandon Blue is out on the digital stores on iTunes and Google Play.
